7 Unconventional Sangeet Outfit Options for You!
As women we are blessed with countless wardrobe options. We can wear anything and everything under the pretext of fashion. Then why do we limit ourselves to lehengas when it comes to weddings? There is no harm in experimenting a little, is it? Ladies, let’s think out of the box and step out of our comfort zone. Let’s take one step at a time and give other outfit options a chance! Ditch the lehenga, women! Here is a list of some hatke outfits that you can opt for your sangeet ceremony.
1. Saree with a Modern Twist
Outfit: Anamika Khanna
No, not the typically draped ones! How about this cape blouse and dhoti pants saree designed by Anamika Khanna? And if you are looking for some saree draping inspiration, Sonam Kapoor is right here to rescue!
2. Raw Silk Jacket
Outfit: Anita Dongre
I love this blue lehenga skirt paired with a bespoke raw silk jacket. It has a plunging neckline embellished with exquisite embroidery, gota patti and sequin work. Not your quintessential lehenga!
3. Anarkali
Outfit: Anamika Khanna
The way I see it, anarkalis are the gems of the fashion industry. They are so versatile and elegant, you can easily wear them anywhere! I chose a purple one with intricate floral work by Anamika Khanna and an emerald green royal anarkali suitable for sangeet.
4. Gown

Of course you can wear gown at your sangeet ceremony! If you want to wear something Indian, go for an Indo-western gown. Some ruffles and shimmer will also do!
5. Crop Top & Pants
Outfit: Anita Dongre
Outfit: Anoli Shah
It’s an unconventional choice but I love a crop top, and pants paired with a long jacket. Dhoti pants are even better! The red and yellow striped co-ord comprising of a bustier, and flared pants paired with a voluminous jacket by Anita Dongre is chic and elegant.
Ahmedabad based designer Anoli Shah designed the chic brown ensemble worn by Kriti Sanon. Pair them with ethnic earrings for a traditional touch!
6. Kurta & Dhoti Pants
Outfit: Anamika Khanna
If you think lehenga and skirts are boring, why not opt for kurta and dhoti pants instead? Both peplum kurta and a long kurta with a front slit work well!
7. Sharara
Outfit: Jayanti Reddy
Outfit: Abhinav Mishra
Shararas have made a comeback and how! You can wear sharara pants and heavily embellished kurta for your mehendi ceremony as well. The one in mustard with scalloped edges is my favourite! Also, is it just me or even you are humming to “sharara sharara…main hoon ek sharara!”
