10 Foods You Must Avoid Before The Wedding. #LehengaWorthyWaist #SayNoToBloating
1. Any Beans
No surprise here, everyone knows that beans cause gas and bloating. So avoid that plate of rajma chawal and go for lean proteins like chicken or fish.
2. Milk or any Dairy Products
Yes, this includes cheese. Dairy contains an enzyme called lactase which is difficult to break down, and digestion causes gas and bloating. It could upset your stomach.
Plus, milk does nothing to improve your skin. Basically, milk contains a hormone called IGF-1 which helps the growth of baby cows as well as your acne. It also causes your skin to produce more oil which leads to the clogging of pores and a bacteria build-up.
Yoghurt is perfectly fine to have though, since the fermentation kills the hormone. And you could always have soy milk or almond milk.
3. Carbonated Beverages
Again, obvious. Soda, fizzy drinks etc. are a strict no-no. Also includes beer, champagne and the sorts. Fizzy drinks contain gas which cause expansion around the stomach-area.
4. Caffeine
Avoid any caffeine – coffee / tea / red bull / etc. It reduces the amount of water in the body, causing dehydration. It can also make your body acidic, which can puff up your belly. If you REALLY need your daily dose, try to limit the amount.
5. Salty Stuff
Salt contains sodium. Sodium causes the body to retain water. Retaining water causes bloating. ‘Nuff said.
6. Cruciferous Vegetables
We’re talking about vegetables like cauliflower, broccoli, sprouts, kale, etc. They make you bloat since they’re loaded with cellulose, a type of fiber which our stomach struggles to break down. Try vegetables like cucumber/ lettuce/ lady’s finger instead.
7. Chewing Gum
Switch to a mint for fresher breath because apart from having bloat-inducing sugar products, chewing gum makes you swallow air more often, which goes straight to your tummy and causes bloating.
8. Red Wine
Duh. Avoid pre-wedding drinking because who wants to wake up hungover on their wedding day. But even apart from this, you really should avoid red wine because it contains unfermented yeast, which bloats you up like crazy. Wait until after the wedding to grab that glass of wine. (Also avoid beer because beer-belly is a thing.)
9. Fake Sweeteners
Mainly present in sugar-free products. You may think this is a good idea, but not really since they contain aspartame which causes bloating as it’s super-hard to digest. So no, your diet coke doesn’t really help your diet.
10. Starchy Foods
Pasta / White Rice / Potatoes and even bread. If you do want to eat this stuff, try brown rice or brown bread instead. Eliminate all gluten.
11. Dried Fruits
You may think that these are perfect to snack on every now and then, but they are packed with fructose, a kind of sugar that causes water retention and gas, which obviously leads to bloating.
