Ultimate checklist of all the things you need to pack to move in to your hubby’s house!

After you tie the knot and say your “I Do”s, the next step is to move-in to your new house, where you’ll share your new life with your brand-new hubby bear! Although, as exciting as this sounds, packing your essentials can be quite a task.

So, in the midst of all the wedding-planning, don’t lose sight of all the things you’ll need after your wedding is over!

If you are having a hard time to decide to what to pack and what not to, I say calm down! Don’t you fret at all ladies, because as always I’ve got you covered. Here’s listing a complete checklist of everything that needs to be packed before you set foot in your new house:

1. Sarees:

Sarees are a vital part of any bride’s trousseau. I know you won’t forget to pack your daily wear and honeymoon outfits, but sarees had to be reminded of!

So, choose a few amongst the lightweight chiffons and georgettes to heavy, designer ones.  They might come in handy for all the post-wedding rituals and those endless dinner parties.

2. Multi purpose blouses:

If you are packing a saree, you have got to pack the blouses too. In the age of mix-and-match ruling the fashion scene, you can always pick one blouse that will go with a lot of sarees, if styled well. This will also save a lot of time, space and money.

3. Kurtis/churidars:

A lot of guests might just show up to meet the newlyweds, so I say pack some 4-5 of your best kurtis or chudidars to keep you sorted. I suggest buy some palazzos and cigarette pants to mix and match and have more number of options.

4. Vanity:

It’s essential to curate your vanity by including everything you might need at any given point of time. So, make sure you pack the whole range, right from the basics to your party-ready kit in your makeup box.

Foundation, compact, primer, kohl pencil, mascara, blush, bronzer, lipstick, makeup brushes, to begin with! You get the drill right?

5. Beauty Essentials:

With a vanity case, comes your can’t-do-without beauty essentials – sunscreen, cleanser, toner, moisturiser, essential oils, chapsticks, foot cream, face packs, mask sheets, hand and body lotions (from the top of my head). Make sure you say ‘check’ every time you pack them ‘em.  

6. Perfume:

Pack your signature perfume, Period!

7. Shoes:

Yes, you’re gonna be wearing your stunning bridal heels at the wedding, but you’ll need your comfy wear post that badly! Sneakers, slip-ons and flats should go along with your other stunning pairs too when you are off to your honeymoon and also when you are back. So, don’t you risk forgetting them!

8. Jewellery:

Diamonds are definitely a girl’s best friend, but a gal needs her other jewelry BFFs too, while honeymooning, post-wedding ceremonies or for regular use. Statement rings, long earrings, some bracelets and big necklaces – fill up your trinket box with these to amp up any outfit!

9. Lingerie:

A smart gal always remembers to pack her regular ones but she must remember to pack the fancy ones too! Because there’s something really special about a corset, fur and robe combination! You’ve got to own a lingerie set that’s delicate yet sexy at the same time!

10. Fancy Beverage:

Tea or coffee, whatever is the beverage of your choice, you might wanna pack them in your bag too! Why? Well, it can be your satisfying and de-stressing beverage you turn to or it might just be a start of a tradition of your own.

11. Fancy candles:

Never ever underestimate the power of aromatic and soothing candles! Right from relieving all your stress to setting the right mood in the room, they can come very handy, especially right after the wedding (you know what we’re talking about, ladies)!

12. Few sweet old memories:

Along with all of the above, don’t forget to pack few of your fond old memories to your new home! It might be some special photographs, diaries, toys and any other token of love. These mementos will provide comfort to you whenever you feel homesick and help you settle smoothly into your new life.
